AnneLine
I have an appointment in 15 minutes, but I will so be back for this thread... and Papist & BG46 know a little of what I will be posting! But.... this is the kind of 'word processor' that I learned to 'keyboard' on in high school ... they'd probably been around a few decades by that point but still.... Anyone remember mimeographed handouts with PURPLE type? cmotherofpirl
Youngsters! When I was little we lived in a wide valley along a small river, in a three room house. We had electricity, so we had a large radio in the corner http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/20030140/OLD_LAFAYETTE_STANDING_RADIO.html where we picked up radio stations from around the country. We had no inside running water- we walked to the pump and filled containers http://photo-dictionary.com/phrase/4316/water-pump.html#b we also had thishttp://outhouseart.blogspot.com/ We also had no telephone, we walked down river to use a party line. To get our mail we walked thru the cornfields, across the tracks and thru the swamp to the local farmer who collected our mail. Thunderstorns could flood the entire valley in a matter of hours and the farmer would come by boat to bring us milk and eggs. We raised watermelons and canteloupes and strawberries.
