Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Pax domini bretheren... Only Love can make us holy, and if God is Love than only God can get us into heaven. What of this outside of the church there is no salvation,is this only our version of Sola Scriptora kind of Sola Holy Roman Catholic? If God is omniscent Love than God can save anyone through his Love right? God bless ye all. Onward christian souls. Jesus iz LORD. JC "seek and ye shall find." "knock and the door will be opened." St Paul "God is Love." St Francessca Cabrini. "he that dares nothing recieves nothing,a missionary should be fearless." St Mary Mackillop of the cross "Be eager in your desires but patient in there accomplishment." P.s. Only love can make us holy, and if God is love than only love can get us into heaven. No matter how many days we have left it is enough time for God.
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
A little old lady said to me once, "if God is Love than the Law is Love. If you love me you won't steal from me, if you love me you will not murder me." She stopped there but had said enough to make her point.
PadrePioOfPietrelcino
This is a good question. I almost wonder if we should post it to Q&A...I don't think I've ever had a good explanation of this teaching...however I will put what my basic thoughts/further questions are. 1) In a few cases through the scriptures we show that God does work outside of his defined covenent... A. Jethro (Moses' father in law) was a priest of Madian...but he knew the truth of the mount Sinai being the mountain of God. Exodus chp 3 B. At the birth of Christ...the wise men came from afar and were not Jewish...possibly Zorastronism (Mat chp 2). 2) Legitimate revelation of God has been biblically supported as being given outside of the jewish covenent...as per 1.B. The wise men looked to the stars for guidance as to the coming of Christ...something that was forbidden to the Hebrews to do per Levitical Law...however outside of that covenant God worked with people to still reveal his truth. I want to be clear that I am not supporting that to each his own...some sort of religious relativism...but I do know that an Orthodox friend of mine once tried to explain Eastern teaching on this to me and he said something about Christianity being the best path, but not the only path since God made all creation and all creation was redeemed by Christ and it follows then that one must do the best they can to seek after God and if they are faithful to that we can not fully understand God's workings... So I guess what I'm getting at (please if someone has the answer...post it) Does the no salvation outside of the Church apply to only those who have been shown the truth? For example someone who is Catholic and leaves the Church to join a protestant church or another religion completely...or does it indeed apply to everyone regardless of whether they have been shown the Church or not? Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Thanks for your insight I kind of do agree with the orthodox stance in this matter based on scripture where jesus said "those whom are outside of me, will be judged by the law written on there own hearts"(my wording is not exact, sorry,) and also the doctrine(unsure if it's biblical, please alert to me if it is.) that jesus died for the sins of all humanity. I understand this as that each of us has an equal chance now of getting to know the peace and un-deniable truth of Gods love, in the church and outside of the church, for me while also backing the orthodox up that we as baptised believers that are congregational have a better chance of a special relationship with Gods love. But in that also i believe the CCC in that 'we as christian members of the holy catholic church need not look outside of the church for the truth' (my wording isn't exact sorry). Though we do look outside the church for various things, the truth need not be saught outside of her for she is the body of christ on earth and jesus said " I am the way,the TRUTH, and the life." and i guess for me i believe true charity comes from true love and since God is Love above all things that can give Love, and actually magnifies all things to be seen clearly as darkness or light. Anything that i need to know let me know, coz i get the sense i'm trying to fake it till i make it and in need of some amount of correction seemingly often in my heart and mind. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
i don't know exactly the verse or even the exact wording or context surrounding the verse. When it comes to the holy word I just read the gospels and think about them, and remember what the holy spirit allows me to remember. With your bible search just type law heart/s , that should bring something up, i hope. Though there was one time i got a verse totaly wrong and i was telling my friend that brotherhood was like honey running down aarons beard, but the verse says brotherhood is like fine oil running down aarons beard lol, but i corrected my mistake, it started when i started thinking about honey on someones beard and that kinda icky and sticky,so i re checked the psalm on brotherhood to check what i was saying wrong lol
