Confirmation Robes

Hey, Adam,

I don't think any of us officially greeted you!   :welcome:

You might want to start a 'hi i'm new here' thread on OpenMic or Lame Board -- so we can get to know you a bit.

As far as confirmation, are you a teen or a young adult?   Does your parish have an RCIA program? If so that is probably what they will want you to do if you want to be confirmed.  It lets you prepare to really understand what being a Catholic is all about, and to get a more adult vision of being Catholic.   Some parishes and dioceses do it differently however, so you need to call your local parish to get started.

Of course, if you aren't Catholic, that's how you do that as well!

But either way, welcome to PhatMass.   (I'm the person who fell down the Church Stairs to celebrate my confirmation, btw... and thank you for propping my story!)

;)

Welcome again!!!!

:bounce:

Oh, Adam... to let you in on the joke.

There was  a thread about the same time as this one that had to do with the 'immodest' shoes that Lil'Red planned to wear to Christmas Mass!   It featured shoes that looked a lot like these:

Here's a link to the thread -- for some reason the actual photo got removed, but as I said, looked a lot like the ones above.

Please -- YOU should NOT plan to wear read shoes like those for YOUR confirmation!  ;)

I actually agree with the white robe.  To put on a white robe is very biblical, and something I think we should use more for many initiation sacraments.

Hope they don't add the white beanie with the red pompom. Trust me, it makes that red robe take on a new dimension of ugly.

My confirmation was the first time I got to wear nylons. Whoo-hoooo! And my first high heels! Yippee!

That was also the first and last time I fell down the entire church stairs.... and it was this church:

7878090.JPG

and yes, I was the flashing red ball going down all 20 of them, front and center, in front of about 100 confirmandi and families and friends... and a bishop.

And then limping my way up to the same bishop to be confirmed.... Definitely remember my confirmation. :)

Both nylons and shoes were total write-offs... fortunately the Confirmation was not. Wonderful Sacrament!

Just goes to show what is really important!

When is your Confirmation -- we want to be praying!

Lol :hehe:

That reminds me of something I did when I was serving the Confirmation Mass two years ago....

I went down to Communion to hold the pallet for the priest and when I was coming walking up the stairs I tripped and fell (right in front of the bishop) because my alb was too long... *cough*thanks Fr. Ivan*cough*.

At the reception the bishop came up to me and told me I should be a Dominicans... :hehe: .

Finally I will be getting Confirmed but I don't have to wear Mr. Ugly, I get to wear a pretty white dress with flowers on it! :princess:

You have to wear robes?

That smells of elderberries.

not against wearing these robes. I hope for the entire RCIA classes process.

I was confirmed 8 years ago (I'm 22), and we wore white robes. They buttoned right at the neck, and when I knelt for communion it choked me! And the robe was long, so I was kneeling on it. This only made things worse.

My shoes came off during Mass, too, but that's another story. Put simply, I was a mess at Confirmation. :hehe:

I hope mine will be like that.

I like robes that are snug at the neck.

The last time I was in a catholic church in Cincinnati to go to the bathroom before a Reds Game I was wearing cargo shorts and a wife beater. They put a server robe on me.

No That was a cassock and surplice that I had to wear at that church in Cincinnati.

How comfortable are these robes? I know in some churches for confirmations they wear cassock and surplice.
