I do wonder what it would be like to have a boring life.
Just the thought of a boring life is terrifying. Maybe just a little gain adjustment on the excitement level?

Since my parents aren't Catholic (we're living with them for now), we had a bit of a surreptitious house blessing when they were out of town. ;) our room is full of Catholic things, so it's our little sanctuary. ;)

The guy who left them behind had left two years ago. His life had completely derailed when he moved into that storage room. He was a carpenter who did the wood forms for the concrete on highway bridges and the like. He came home one day to find his house burned down. His wife took that opportunity to tell him that she was having an affair with one of his best friends, and moving in with him and taking their four kids with her. Oh yeah, the friend was also his boss, so he of course lost his job. In one week he lost everything he owned, his home, his wife and kids, and his job. When he couldn't find work, we put him to work in the building. It was time for new carpeting, and someone had to install it, so might as well have been him, and we thought he needed the leg up. He was here about a year, and then got a job on the south side of town and left pretty quickly. I think he broke bad with the creep, and don't know if he got locked out or just left quickly and forgot the urns. It's possible he just didn't know what to do with them.

Good grief, Catherine!

I'm propless again (boy that is a pain! hint hint?!) but you get prayers in place of props.

you noted that:

Their names were on the urns and I looked up their obituaries online. They were the parent's of a former
roommate of the creep. He had slept in that storage room because the creep used it as a bedroom.
We have an appointment to drop them off with the police today. It was as if as soon as we gave them
back their names, a heaviness in the building was lifted. That storage room was right on the other side
of the wall we heard banging from.

Well... this changes things up a bit, doesn't it. Perhaps some of this was simply the Carpenter Guy's family trying to get some help?
Now we need to pray for the Carpenter Guy and his family. We did pray for them last night and this morning, and will do so again tonight. Everyone needs to be prayed for in life and in death.

The Carpenter Guy's story breaks my heart. If he also lost access to the urns of his parents, who knows what happened to him. I can well believe that the 'heaviness' of that place has lifted. It explalins so much, doesn't it.... Since you know the names, maybe it would be appropriate to have masses said for them?

Maybe some of the weird stuff the last guy did was a misguided attempt to remove that heaviness? I am convinced that many times people with mental illness pick up on stuff like that even more strongly than the rest of us... it must have been horrible for all of them in that space last few years.

I bet a lot of the weirdness in that space may go away now.... and I am GLAD you have reclaimed it for Christ the King.

Definitely been reclaimed. We even had the property tax part that goes to the schools redirected to the Catholic school system. I love that we can do that here. It used to drive my dad nutty that his property taxes went to the neighborhood kids' schools, but not to ours.

I've been tiling the kitchen countertop today. I'm going with a color block scheme.
