Catechism Part 2

So, is the Catechism the most [b]dependable [/b]document for learning about what the Catholic church [b]really[/b] teaches? The one I have is a second edition (1997, I think).

I ask this because people throw documents around on the Debate board, and I know there are different levels of you-must-believe-this in different types of Church documents, and since I'm unfamiliar with all of them, I can't tell what's "infallible" teaching and what isn't.
