Winchester
Donnie Darko-Wierd movie, but religious undertones. The acting directing and dialogue is great. Not for children. Set in the 80's neat soundtrack and score.
Winchester
I kind of meant this as a place to recommend movies.
Chrysologus
Punch-Drunk Love: semi-realistic romance with some humor about two dysfunctional people who take a chance on love. Donnie Darko is creepy.

Old School was rated morally offensive by the US Catholic Bishops, so we really shouldn't condone that here in the phorum.
Carrie
Well, being as the 4th of July just passed, I'd have to say The Patriot.
ryanmeyersmusic
i saw old school at the recommendation of one of my good friends and, again, wasn't very impressed... i'm starting to think that maybe my sense of humor is going away... i laughed for like 30 straight minutes the other day because my girlfriend was doing this stupid "ooga-shacka" dance... oh my gosh I'm going to start again... i've seen a ton of movies this summer (esp. kids movies since I work at a day camp): At the show: X2 (Action, +) Anger Management (Comedy, +|-) Bringing Down the House (Comedy, +) Finding Nemo (Animated, +) Holes (Kids Comedy, -) Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (Animated, +) Bruce Almighty (Comedy, +) The Italian Job (Action, +) Matrix Reloaded (Action, +) Daddy Day Care (Kids Comedy, +) Agent Cody Banks (Kids Action, +|-) DVD: Life is Beautiful (Foreign, ++!) James Bond: Die Another Day (Action, +|-) Old School (Cheap Comedy, -) The Recruit (Action/Suspense, +) A Guy Thing (Comedy, +|-) Analyze That (Comedy, +|-) Catch Me if You Can (Drama, +|-) The Animatrix (Anime, +) One Hour Photo (Suspense, +|-) The Ring (Horror, +) 8 Mile (Drama, +|-) The Bourne Identity (Action, +) That's not counting all the older movies that I've rewatched... I LOVE movies! Right now I've got The Tuxedo (Action Comedy) and El Crimen del padre Amaro (Foreign Drama) checked out from ye olde video rental... ryanmeyersmusic
movies aren't replacements for books, just a different type of art... that's like saying "don't listen to music, check out a sculpture" just finished watching padre amaro... curious if anyone else has seen it... there were some seriously messed up parts, but the overall story of how sin can destroy lives was powerful. Chrysologus
dUSt, so what if the bishops rate some movies morally offensive? Their movie reviews are by no means binding, and seemingly inconsistent. I mean, they rated The Matrix morally offensive, but the sequel not. They rated Oh God! acceptable even though it flatly contradicts the Catholic faith and presents an offensive portrait of God, but Fight Club, which actually condemns violence, was morally offensive. I don't think they know what the heck they're doing. Edited July 6, 2003 by Chrysologus
