Papist
I see nothing wrong with strapless dresses, as long as it's not showing cleavage, but I always feel like strapless dresses look incomplete. On the other hand, I don't really like formal dresses with short sleeves (they look kinda Mormon to me). I prefer boleros shrugs, or just plain straps. It just looks prettier and more complete to me
I always understood strapless dresses, but that was before I was married with children.
I know! I find it disgusting. Immodest stuff is bad enough for women... but ruining the innocence of little girls? Um, no. Keep this in mind if you have little girls, when they get older and are near their full size, L.L. Bean is pricey, but the stuff is almost always modest, usually feminine and pretty, and the clothing seems to last forever so if they do grow out of the sizes, pass 'em on! MissyP89
Mission texted me last night and said that my prom dress (which I'll have you know was pretty modest) was hot. She remembers it from 4 years ago. Boom.

LaPetiteSoeur
If you are crafty/able to sew, you can make yours! My mom made my "banquet" dress (like prom but not really) and I loved it! Unfortunately, it doesn't fit anymore, but it was beautifully simple and modest and made from not shiny fabric (I can't stand shiny fabric!) Archaeology cat
Papist, I hear you. I made Charlotte a couple of dresses. I've been able to find some decent clothes for her recently.
OnlySunshine
My prom is in may and I want to wear a modest prom dress. I am looking for either a ball gown or just and evening gown. Does anyone know where to get a modest dress under $60? I don't want to look like everyone else that goes to prom because all they want is to have everyone look at their skin and that in no way sends a virtuous message. I also, don't want to spend more than $60 because it's not worth it. Thanks!!! tinytherese
I've been put off by strapless dresses ever since I attended the fashion prom show one of my friends was in. A girl with a strapless dress sat down and her breasts popped out but she put it back up really quickly.

Annie12
i just think strapless dresses don't look good on anyone
I think strapless dresses require a shall or a jacket otherwise they look to revealing. And I also think it depends on a person's body type too. I don't think a strapless dress would flatter a fuller figure girl because she may need more support than a smaller girl (i.e. she may need straps). And even when a smaller girl wears a strapless dress, they should cover their shoulders. And its not that shoulders are a temptation or anything, but its just the percent of skin you show, in my opinion. I feel like there is too much skin showing on a strapless/backless dress.
