EmilyAnn
I just remembered this topic and was wondering if you managed to find something yet. Because if you haven't I was randomly looking at dresses online and found that LatterDayBride have some cute dresses on sale for like $49.

tinytherese
I've also never understood why most people on here consider bare shoulders immodest. I've never known a guy who has the temptation to lust over them.
missionseeker
lol... I know guys who lust over anything. Their problem, though. Not mine.
Basilisa Marie
I think the thing with strapless dresses is finding one that both doesn't also show all kinds of cleavage AND will stay on (that green dress is a good example of one that would probably solve both problems). There really is no difference between strapless and spaghetti strap dresses, other than with the latter I'd probably be more comfortable knowing things will stay where they are while I'm dancing. At my high school, we had everyone from a bunch of Mormons with high necklines and short sleeves to girls with all kinds of cutouts in their dresses. Something like the green dress would have definitely fallen on the more modest end of the spectrum. But on the other hand, if everyone else is going to wear things like bolero jackets with their dresses, a strapless dress would stand out more and probably seem more immodest, even if it's objectively not that bad at all. LinaSt.Cecilia2772
My mom and I went prom dress shopping last weekend, and we were pleasantly surprised at the low cost of the dresses at David's Bridal. They have lots of clearance dresses as well.

Papist
Why not go for modest and unique for the both of you.

Oh, and as long as everything is covered up... I don't see too big of a problem. This is when my cousin steps in and says, "That's why God made sweaters!" mysisterisalittlesister
I see nothing wrong with strapless dresses, as long as it's not showing cleavage, but I always feel like strapless dresses look incomplete. On the other hand, I don't really like formal dresses with short sleeves (they look kinda Mormon to me). I prefer boleros shrugs, or just plain straps. It just looks prettier and more complete to me
