i actually can parallel park better if I'm driving a stick shift - because that's the kind of car I really grew up driving.

My respect for you just quadrupled. And that's saying a lot!

My husband used to drive a stick-shift. He tried to teach me, once. It resulted in me driving around an empty parking lot yelling, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO STOP!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" I never drove that car again...

I know I can parallel park if I have to, but I hate doing it. Reversing, though, is quite fun. Kieran often asks me to park backwards, meaning he wants me to reverse into the space. Developed that skill when I drove a huge extended -length Aerostar. Reversing into a space was much easier than reversing out later.

Yeah, I'm pretty decent at reverse. I just get really nervous trying to squeeze between two other vehicles. I usually back into my driveway. It puts the back of my car closer to the kitchen door for unloading groceries. lol

I didn't parallel park for my liscene, but I have done it before. I don't like it, however.
[/quote]

I didn't either. I got mine in VA and all I had to do was drive around the block a couple times and back in and out of a parking space. :|

I also got points docked on my first test, because I didn't change lanes fast enough when the tester told me to change lanes. In an intersection. Which is illegal, so I thought he was joking. Apparently, he wasn't. :|

That's a load of garbage. I HATE when people do that. That's the kind of thing that should be disputed but probably never is because the kids behind the wheel don't know any better.

The driver's ed instructor specifically told us they WOULDN'T ask us to do stuff like that. And I was way too intimidated by the tester to even THINK of disputing it!
