mulls
DojoGrant's assertion is merely that if one sees that the Catholic Church is the only Christian Church that has really stuck by True Christian Morality on this issue and not swayed by society's pressures, then they will be more inclined to believe the Catholic Church is the one that will not be defeated by the gates of hell.
i understand, i just don't necessarily agree, based on one subject alone. the premise does make sense though. thanks for the quotes Dave. mulls
please. i just skimmed the reference section on contraception, but none of it seemed to do the trick for me. my only question is whether using a condom in a marriage is ok or not, i'm not worried about pills or abortion or any of that despicable stuff. and i already know WHAT the church says about it, i need some more of the WHY, and any non-catholic arguments, pro or con, would help as well. thanks buddy. DojoGrant
mulls, In regards to your homosexuality example, it doesnt really work because the Church, too, opposes homosexuality. I don't think you will find an issue of morals (not doctrine) that the Catholic Church can be found faulty on (that is, she approves something that is understood to be evil, or says something is evil when it is actually good). But, again, the point is that if a person comes to the conclusion that in fact contraception is wrong, the Catholic Church is a 2,000 year old beacon of this truth. P.S., I will check out the Mennonite view of this, and see if there are others that hold to this moral truth.
