People may feel like you are being disrespectful because of your first post in this thread, in which you said,
The :| face generally denotes sarcasm, at least for as long as I've ever been here.

Sarcasm does not necessarily mean that your statement was meant to be ironic.

I have always thought the poster is unsure about something.

Maybe I should have said irony.
Anyway, the :| usually denotes that the post isn't meant to be taken entirely seriously.

Deus te Amat

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

My mom taught me to sing the national anthem when I was 9. I sounded like a half dead goat then (my mom video taped us singing it on the front deck standing under the flag), and I still do now, but I will shamelessly belt it out for my kids... A will be 9 this summer... I feel compelled to teach it to her now. Thanks for posting that, I hadn't thought about when I learned it in a loooong time.

Calm down. This was stupid and offensive but nobody is an Emperor.
Yet.
This was a local issue, stop trying to nationalize it.
So I'm only allowed to comment on national issues? Who put you in charge of what constitutes to be commented on?
Yeah, it was offensive and stupid, but so is your attempt to insinuate that this is a token of some Imperial ambition.
I'm sorry. I should just laugh and ignore it......like how the world ignored the Nazi rhetoric.....until 12 million+ innocent lives later?

You don't defend liberty by ignoring symbolic transgressions against it. You actively guard it...so you never lose it.

Proof:

1. I pledge allegiance to the US Flag
2. Obama is the US Flag
_________

Therefore, I pledge allegiance, to Obama, ......

So how is this NOT some imperial ambition by this local Democrat place? I don't understand. They are clearly equating Obama with the American flag, the American flag symbolizes what America is.....so therefore Obama symbolizes what America should be.....

If your really on my side, you'll join me in ridiculing and criticizing this attempt instead of calling my call-out "offensive and stupid." Your trying to have it both ways. Maybe you could if the people behind this flag admitted it as a bad mistake, but the fact they won't apologize........wow.....that is what really bothers and scares me the most.

Ignoring stuff like this sets up for the continual removal of liberty in America.

*Edit: Accidently edited something because I thought I was saying the contrary of what I wanted to say, but after editing, I realized it was right to begin with.
