i<3LSOP
Hey Pham! Ya'll who crochet are going to probably laugh when 'ya see this question, but I know how to make the slip knot... that is easy... and if I'm not mistaken (I probably am) then you take the string of yarn attached to the ball of yarn and bring it from the back to the front and "rest" it in the hook... after that though... I am confused! I don't know if you then shift the slip knot up and over and how you do that without having it fall off. I'm such an idiot spending about two hours trying to figure it out! Help would be appreciated!
I was just a little older than you when I learned to crochet. My friend and I took a community ed class (it was 8 weeks or something). I spent 7 weeks very, very frustrated. I missed learning fancier stitches because I couldn't get the basics (probably because I was goofing off...) Anyway, that last day of class, it clicked! I went home and started my first project-- an afgan. (I mean, who wants to monkey around with dinky little projects, right?) My mom and brother teased me that I was making a snake blanket (because it was really long and narrow. But! I did finish it. And my mom still has it. I made an afgan for HSdad back when we were dating and another one when we got engaged. Still have those-- use them all the time. I've made lots of other afgans as well. And they are all the same, basic single stich... because that's the only one I can do. Enjoy. You'll get better. It's fun.

Except I don't have the patience to make a whole afghan. I aim for sewing projects instead because I can get them done in a day or two. lol
i<3LSOP
Hahaha! I can sew quite well, and have made myself a backpack, skirt, pajama pantaloons, etc. but this is not clicking! Mum, dad, my lil sis and bro where staring at me as I was trying to crochet and saying every once in a while, "Darn it!" or "This stupid piece of yarn won't... *mutter* work..." It looks better... sort of uneven but whatever.
Ice_nine
I'm so bomb at crocheting if I do say so myself. See that ski mask I'm rocking? Guess who made it? HUZZAH
Jesus_lol
My only experience with knitting was accidental. I put a set of earbuds in my pocket, and 15 minutes later they had been knitted together into a pair of mittens.

MissScripture
I've crocheted since I was in about 8th grade, but last summer I discovered how much faster sewing is, so I totally agree with Icey! lol mysister- I know my sister had a really hard time crocheting (she had issues with tension) but resolved the problem by learning a different way to hold the hook. If you keep having issues, maybe you could look into something like that.
Basilisa Marie
I crocheted my boyfriend a scarf for Christmas. It's so relaxing.
Old_Joe
Is it possible to knit or crochet with steel cable? I have this idea for a kind of chain mail shirt.
I guess theoretically it's possible but it depends on how pliable the cable is and what kind of gauge you're looking for. that would be pretty bad arse tho If you're not making a joke that's way over my head.
