its a good thing the bible doesnt say to kill certain people, or to enslave them, or to disfigure or injure anyone, that would be horrible.

It would also be truly silly to say the Bible has caused even a single death, much less several wars.

This is basically what I've been thinking since reading DB's idiotic ramblings on this thread.

Also, congrats to you, J_lol. Seems like you've been graced with the love and affection of a strong, bold woman. I have been similarly blessed, and I know that I wake up every morning, knowing full well that no matter what I do during the rest of the day, I will do nothing to deserve half of the love and fidelity she will show me.

Well if the Bible wasn't true I would hate it also and just be an atheist or agnostic.

No, he's saying that he cannot cope with the cognitive dissonance he, and others like him, experience whenever confronted with the inconvenient truth of the less than moral things that pass for "Divine Truth" within the Bible. I've heard it said once that if a book can't get on the right side of slavery, then the book isn't much worth reading. I don't necessarily believe that to be true, but it brings up a valid point--the Bible, and other holy books like the Qur'an, the Torah, the Talmud, contains some of the most salient and pertinent wisdom of its time. But this is a different time, and I'd like to think that the collective wisdom garnered in the centuries that have passed since their writing is also salient and pertinent.
