BG45
Hmm, I have not seen this thread until now. I think that what's already important to be said, has been said, we're all broken human beings. The important thing is that Christ came and died for our sins and then rose again. He defeated our sins in a way we will never be able to, nor ever could. The route this thread has gone with the bickering in the offtopic-ness is only proof positive of why Christ is the Redeemer and we are those in need of redemption. BG45
As someone who has actually read the entire Qur'an, I'm not going to give your opinions about what it says any credit until you read it. Books say things. People teach and interpret. Why would you want to read this book? I could think of a few reasons involving its beauty and historical significance, but I'm getting the feeling those may not interest you.
I totally just had deja vu to the recently locked Whosoever thread there with how we all can't even really agree on the interpretation of the Bible and the importance of the magisterium as compared to 30,000 Protestant denominations. Everyone can claim to be inspired by the Holy Spirit, but are they? In the same way, I feel our Muslim friends also face the same problem in their interpretation of the Qur'an. For every Ayatollah Khameini who uses it to preach death and destruction, there is an Ayatollah Sistani who uses it to preach a message of peace. For every Al Sadr who would use it as an excuse to oppress people with militias, there is a Sheik Hassan Yousef, who uses it as a reason to care for the poor and the needy. Also kudos to you, I've not read it entirely, but I've actually never finished the entire Bible either!
Guest
Hmm. Well, if it helps, talking about religion is a hobby of mine. That might be part of the reason why we're butting heads.
I appologise. Peace.

False religion does nothing postive for anyone. Edited March 10, 2012 by Guest
Jesus_lol
. On top of that there is a lot of hate in it and has caused to many deaths to count
its a good thing the bible doesnt say to kill certain people, or to enslave them, or to disfigure or injure anyone, that would be horrible. It would also be truly silly to say the Bible has caused even a single death, much less several wars. Edited March 10, 2012 by Jesus_lol

PhuturePriest
Never seen the movie but I think I know what you're getting at after just reading reviews for it.sorry my life won't play out like that cause I changed courses. Don't be fooled by the deliver boy slang here and there.I'm on a different path now but thanks for the concern. And even if something did happen its ok. Sick waves equal a cross in life. Sometimes protestants don't know about those though. Anyhow never had a prob with you so Godbless and best of luck to ya. Peace brother.
So, I'm trying to understand here. Are you bashing him because he is a Protestant? This is unacceptable behavior. You are called as a Catholic to love everyone. You don't love someone by bashing their beliefs. If it comes into conversation, you explain your position and your reasons for having it, but it should never go into anything more than a playful bash in which the person knows you are joking and are not serious. You need to learn how to debate, and you must learn humility. I am learning humility and it is no fun. But unfortunately, we are the servants of Christ, not the masters, so we might as well learn the humility of a servant before it's too late. I thought he was saying something that he wasn't with the movie refrence. Something along the lines of something bad was going to happen to me in the future. I took that as a threat and that's why I responded the way I did. At any rate you are correct and I need to learn humility. Godbless brother. Ice_nine
You must be one of them.

if the shoe fits

Yes, except for the whole Somalia thing (there some controversy, the details of which I am not 100% on, but it involves Ethiopians believing that Somalis are Ethiopian, but the Somalis feeling differently...or something...).
Yeah there's a lot of clan issues that are super complicated. The arbitrary political maps split tribes up and forced different ones into the same borders. Ah, the glories of imperialism. I think the situation in Somalia is only exacerbating clan rivalry. Yikes, it's a mess over there. Very hard to sort things out.
Norseman82
You respond with some flippant, snide "no homo" comment.
FYI, when a male qualifies a comment with "no homo" it is to qualify that a preceding comment should not be misunderstood in a homosexual way. Im this case, DB stated J_lol was "a catch", but did not want that to be misinterpreted as a homosexual crush, so he stated "no homo". Another example would be if J_lol got together with his male firefighter friends to watch the Canucks lose to the Blackhawks and stated "it's great to get together just with the guys " and qualified it with "no homo".
