Vincent Vega
There's so much dumb in this thread, I'm considering clamping certain parts of me in a vice for a couple days so that I don't ever accidentally create more people who would have to enjoy all of the stupidity that the world contains. Guest
As someone who has actually read the entire Qur'an, I'm not going to give your opinions about what it says any credit until you read it. Books say things. People teach and interpret. Why would you want to read this book? I could think of a few reasons involving its beauty and historical significance, but I'm getting the feeling those may not interest you.
Its beauty ? I doubt I will see its beauty. I'll probally even dislike it more then the book of mormon.
Marie-Therese
I don't date guys although I'm sure he's a catch. No homo. Anyhow thanks for sharing.

I'm almost postive if you want to spend your whole life with him you've met face to face right ? You have met face to face correct ? Please tell me you have ? No wait there's no way you haven't met face to face. What a silly question by me. Forget I even asked.
It's not a silly question. It's a stupid question. It has absolutely no bearing on anything I've said. You asked a question. I answered a question. You respond with some flippant, snide "no homo" comment. Fact is, your comments aren't defensible. I asked, charitably, for you to refrain from making commentary on the state of another person's conscience. (Which, btw, is something that he never did to you. He might have questioned your intellect, but he never made any sweeping generalizations about the state of your soul.) You, instead of having some humility about taking potshots at someone else's heart and faith, answer with a demand for my qualifications. I gave you an answer. You try some cutesy reply. Fact is, I get really, really sick at listening to people who claim to be Catholic treating others with such a condescending attitude. Instead of wondering why he isn't Catholic after so long on this site, maybe you should look at yourself in the mirror and wonder how it is that attitudes and comments like you made here could contribute to keeping one of your brethren away. You have literally NO idea where he is in his faith walk and you have less than no right to comment on his interior life. His comments and opinions posted here are fair game: his heart is not. Life is not a rap battle. Grow up.

Marie-Therese
How are you doing, by the way? Also, have you ever read Ambrose Bierce?
I'm doing excellent. I have read some Bierce, but I confess it's been a very long time, and I'd hardly be conversant on his work. I need to spend some time in rereading some classics, as it's been far too long.
Life is not a battle rap. I like that.
Never seen the movie but I think I know what you're getting at after just reading reviews for it.sorry my life won't play out like that cause I changed courses. Don't be fooled by the deliver boy slang here and there.I'm on a different path now but thanks for the concern. And even if something did happen its ok. Sick waves equal a cross in life. Sometimes protestants don't know about those though. Anyhow never had a prob with you so Godbless and best of luck to ya. Peace brother.
4588686
Alright. Well, this was a fail. I really don't care to rehash past arguments or listen to explanations of why Catholic rights are more pure than other rights. I've given my perspective. I've said that it probably isn't entirely fair. And I've apologized. I stand by what I said although I would rephrase it with more nuance. And I stand by my apology. I will try to be less blatantly aggressive and remember that I am a guest here on a Catholic forum. And that's the last serious comment I intend to make on this thread. Guest
Ok I read more reviews and now have no idea what you're talking about. But the real question is why when I'm talking to you do I feel like I'm talking to bill murray in groundhogs day ? Sick deja vu in your future dude. I really over thought that one. So why do you see sick waves in my future ? And btw I was never judging your soul like your boonopolis said I was. I just said your conscience has got to be gettin close to the truths the Catholic Church holds. Edited March 9, 2012 by Guest
Aloysius
only skimmed parts of this thread, here are my thoughts: hasan, props for the apology, I had noticed you were particularly agitated over this controversy than usual. anyway, as to your analogy, it should be up to the former owners of the property, the Muslims themselves, and the New York City government (zoning laws and such) whether or not a mosque can be built near ground zero. the NY City gov't' can't ban Muslims from building mosques as that would violate currently establised precedents in constitutional law for equal protection under the 14th ammendment, but they can restrict where it could be built. if the citizens of NY City didn't want a mosque near ground zero, then there were legal ways the local government could have blocked that particular location. similarly the government of any city can decide where Catholics can or cannot build their hospitals and such, though they can't just not let them build hospitals so long as they qualify for all permits and licenses and such, again legal precedent and all that would view any kind of discrimination in that regard as being against equal protection under the law and all that. none of that is exactly similar to the proposition that the federal government force Catholics to pay for contraception, though. if the government had stood up and said Muslims not only could not build a mosque near ground zero, but they had to help fund the construction of a Church near ground zero, that would be similar to the contraception controversy. anyway, I do think you have some valid point about outrage over religious freedom only firing up when it is our own Church in the crosshairs, and when it's the Muslims we're all too likely to be either apathetic or to be part of the group that wants to infringe upon their civil rights. your point is well taken from me... though I don't think I was really against the ground zero mosque, and I've always been too much of a sheeple to realize that Obama is a secret Muslim communist Christian zionist anti-semite anti-colonial elitist... I did flirt with the birther idea, but mostly just for the LOLz and because I was holding out hope that both Obama and McCain would somehow be found ineligible and Ron Paul would swoop in and be president by default, and I always made the point that even if it were true the powers that be would never actually let it BE true because it'd be a legal nightmare to have to correct that mess. oh, and the Muslims don't teach that you must die if you don't convert to Islam, but I believe Sharia law does have punishment of death for people who convert AWAY from Islam. Of course, in times past Christians have permitted general religious freedom similarly to the level some Muslim countries have now while condemning heretics to death; in a homogenous culture it is common to view heresy/converting away/apostacy as a type of treason against the society and it is a threat to social cohesion so people generally want it dealt with as a capital crime to discourage it. not saying it's right, but that's a good context, hopefully Islam can find a way to move past all that, but until then it's a quick path to martyrdom: go be a Muslim, convert back to Christianity, and wait for the stones
Guest
Yes the koran does teach if christians or anyone else does not convert they are to be treated with violence and killed. Wether they practice that all the time doesn't change what the koran says about converting non muslims.
Guest
And btw I'm not a koran hater in the sense I think it should be burned or anything like that. I'm not against the fact the Pope kissed it. Although there is no way I will ever say its a beautiful book. There is nothing beautiful about it. It is responsible for so many deaths and it also denies the Divinity of Jesus Christ. No thanks.
