Icy, I was just looking and I'm not eligible for Amazon Mom free trial period, because I have had Amazon Student. But we're getting Amazon Prime, because we can't handle waiting more than two days for our stuff. :smile2: :ninja:

I'm trying to decide if I want to get a kindle fire. I keep waffling back and forth. If you own one, could you tell me what you like and don't like about it?

Thanks.

Could you just send me the money for my trip over seas, then? I will love it.

Aw, that's a bummer. I had it for a few months but neglected to buy anything babyish in February and it lapsed. I probably could have eeked out another couple free months if I'd put my mind to it. I just don't really need anything from the baby store these days now that Xander is pretty much totally potty trained (not that I ever ordered diapers anyway because by the time I realized he had run low I generally needed to go out and get them asap because we had one left).

No, you should not get a Kindle Fire.

I have no reasons for this except that I do not have a Kindle Fire....

and they sound dangerous....

and it's Lent, so you shouldn't indulge yourself....

and new technology is never what it's cracked up to be....

so....

no.

"Switching from one brand of e-reader to another isn't going to be easy, at least when it comes to bringing along all the books you've already purchased. Publishers say they aren't really your books, you've only bought access to them. And if you could just copy a book from one device to another, what's to keep someone from handing out "free" books to all of their friends? Better to just pick one brand and stick with it."
Which is why I don't play the copyright game. You don't have to buy all new books every time you buy a new bookshelf. If I'm going to get a digital book, it's going to be mine.

My wife has a Kindle fire and she reads on it. When she's not reading on it, my daughter is playing word games on it. When she's not doing that, my son watches Netflix on it. When he's not doing that, my toddler is drawing on it. I usually use it when I want to watch something as I'm on the treadmill.

I'm also a Amazon Prime member, so can watch all their streaming content for free (not as good as Netflix yet, but getting there).
