You can't say they aren't Catholic anymore. They are. Sad, separated Catholics, but Catholic.
um not Roman Catholic. They can call themselves catholic all they want but the fact is they are not Roman Catholic soooo they're not Catholic. If you want to call them catholic called them Lapsed Catholic, whatever they call themselves need to be qualified because it is misleading. It's folks like them who lead others to believe that the "majority" of catholics believe that contraception and gay marriage is ok.

They are technically still catholic unless they repudiate the Church. Even if we excommunicate them they are still catholic.

^ What Cmom said.

"Lapsed Catholic" is nothing more than a popular colloquial expression. "Roman Catholic" is only a designation of rite. Yes, they are being incredibly misleading by using "Catholic" in their name, and we're good to point this out to others. But it doesn't ever change the fact that they are Catholics.

It's like when people would call asking about getting their names removed from the Catholic baptism register. Whether they like it or not, they are baptized Catholic and are Catholic. Taking their name out of a book won't change that. Prayers that they return to their Church.

Do not dispair.

This is a front group paid for by the anti-Catholic George Soros.

Sadly it confuses some to believe "catholics" would support such a mortal sin or rather Counterfeit Catholicism.

Soros runs over 6 groups attempting to grab some 70 million Catholics in the US to do as he wants (we are 28% of the US population).

They are not Catholics. They do not speak for Catholics. But, they are meant to confuse Catholics who are less in knowledge of their faith.

Nuts. I hate living in MD, I want to go back to Pa.
O'Malley is a thug and a crook. How on earth did the people here re-elect him?

What a farce of an organization! Wish a bishop would come out and excommunicate them.

Yes they are...

Just because they fail to uphold Catholic moral teaching does not make them non-catholics. They are in a sad state of affairs, but they are most definitely catholic.
We can't have these types calling themselves Catholic.

This leads to non-Catholics hearing about them and telling you "well so and so is Catholic and They believe in gay Marriage. Why don't you?"

I hear ya but.. some peoples mentality is hearing what they want to hear and the rest is blah blah blah. But if they aren't being told what they want to hear to begin with...

What is amazing is the number of people that choose to be called "Catholic", but only while criticizing, or attempting to modify the positions of the Catholic Church. The Kennedys, Kerry, Pelosi,Sanchez, and many more, all espouse their Catholisism while acting in direct opposition to the church. If these people are so against the Catholic Church, and its' teachings, while don't they simply join another church that is more aligned with their views? Why do they feel compelled to modify the mores of, and reinterpret a religon that they obviously don't believe in? These Maryland, "Catholics", certainly don't represent any of the Catholics that I worship with.

Our Bishops, Priests, and the Pope, need to come out and publicly condem any anti-Catholic behavior by those purporting to be acting as practising Catholics.

Sheesh and Maryland was originally meant to be a place where Catholics in the U.S. could escape religious persecution and was named after Our Lady.
