Need Info On Marriage

I am need some Anthropological info on marriage. What kinds of "unions" happened the most and when. What is the eariliest mention of a Marriage as it is ment to be,

There is alot of junk out there. I even found a website that said that the Catholic Mass once supported homosexuality...lol.

I have read most of that stuff out side of the links, but the catholic ecyclopedia is close to what I am looking for, though I already had thought of it. I used it but hesitated as I am the only catholic on the board.

I am in the middle of a debate on marriage in another small forum which some pretty sharp relativists who have been brain washed...

I should be good for now, though I think what is needed is alot of 'secular sources', people where I am at scoof at anything that sounds religious, even if it is not.

I was on one forum that kept telling people that marriage is a catholic/christian scam. They were saying that the Church invented the whole marriage thing, with the vows and witnesses to keep tabs on people.
They claim that if a man and woman join in union(consumate) then that should be all that is necessary.

Yeah, the arguements were a'flyin', to say the least.

Sometimes people crack me up.
