Has anyone seen this Vocation video? I found it really beautiful and touching. I believe she entered the Poor Clares in Rosewell this Summer.

It is beautiful-I was just watching this on youtube! What a coincidence. I was crying as she was. This is one of the most touching Laboure videos I have seen (though admittedly I haven't seen many.)

Alberta entered in Chicago this past summer (Roswell made this foundation in 2000, so she still got to enter with 'her Sisters') after her debt was paid off somewhat miraculously, though 'miraculous' seems to be the norm for God in getting rid of debt so His brides (and priests) can enter. Mother told me it is hard for Sisters to enter the same cloister, so this is why she is in Chicago. It sounds like she is doing very well, and the affection the Roswell community has for her is obvious.

One thing I find interesting about her situation is that I believe she was born after her sister had already entered the Monastery. It must be so strange to be enclosed and be introduced to your new baby sibling in a parlor visit! As I was speaking about this with my mom, she remarked that this was probably very normal in the past, when Catholics tended to have larger families and girls entered the convent more often and younger.

She's very shadowed, so it is hard to see her here:

She is so courageous and strong to enter the cloister after experiencing her mother's death. I can't understand how difficult that was -- to feel the call to pursue a vocation and then to share in the Lord's suffering by witnessing your mother's struggle and eventual passing. All I can think is how her mother will be with her every step of the way -- even to places that outsiders cannot pass through -- since she will be there in spirit and prayer. :)

MM, I agree! And yes, Emma, I've watched a bunch of them (Laboure videos) and this one is definitely my favorite and the most touching! That is so cool you know that is her in the picture there as a child watching her sister's Solemn Profession. I'm so happy for her that she's in Palos Park now too!! http://www.chicagopoorclares.org/ Praised be Jesus Christ!!

From the PCC Barhamsville facebook:
"We hosted a Nun Run over the weekend of 10 girls and 7 chaperones! Pray for their discernment."

:like: Betcha they get some new postulants soonish (many of these girls look very young.)

Has anyone discerned or considered discerning with the New Orleans Poor Clares (http://poorclarenuns.com/index.html)? I've met a couple of them, and they're lovely. Very involved (and well loved) in the diocese, despite being cloistered. They have a beautiful monastery, too. I know habits tend to be a major consideration here, and they don't all wear the habit all the time, but even when they don't, they seem to keep a very Franciscan way of dressing.
