Byzantine
Erm... Reading about him and the whole hesychast movement has me kinda confused. Some say it's at odds with Catholic theology; others say no, something with language and something. So anyone willing to explain, anything written would probably help. Thanks! And I'm intentionally leaving this open-ended.
Theoketos
That is a loaded question that I do not see being resolved for a while. I personally have great hope that some one holier and smarter than I can reconcile Palamas and the later Eastern developments (Photius) with Aquinas and Western traditions. This is to say that I do not currently see how they can be. Here is a good blog post from the Western Tradition: http://cantuar.blogspot.com/2009/03/aquinas-palamas-and-council-of-vienne.html Here is a good book (expensive) that I hear does a decent job trying to reconcile them. I hear from both side praise and compliants, though I have not read it. I do intend to read it. http://www.amazon.com/Ground-Union-Deification-Aquinas-Palamas/dp/0195124367
