Did Anyone Else Eat Meat On Ash Wednesday?

I realized it after I finished my meal.

And then I realized that I needed to go to confession.

I even knew it was Ash Wednesday, and it didn't occur to me that

Ash Wednesday = no meat

I did not eat meat, but I was at the bank and they had a basket of suckers, I took one and it wasn't until I was half over that I'm like "croutons I should be fasting..." I only had a tuna fish sandwich all day, so only one small meal, so I felt that I stayed within the parameters.

I think if you have the intention of abstaining and fasting, but forget, there's no sin. I don't think you need to get to confession. Just mention it next time. But if you deliberately popped a Slim Jim in your mouth, knowing full well it was a day of fasting and abstinence... well, then yeah...

Mmmmmm.... Slim Jim.

I did the same ... I popped a mini 3-musketteers in my mouth. Didn't remember that I was fasting (partially -- I can't fully fast due to health issues) until about 3 minutes later.

And Lil Red is 100% correct -- if it was a true oversight (and not on purpose) then there is absolutely no sin.

At least I did enjoy the 3-musketteers. Not on purpose, but I have to admit it was good.

Egg, while technically probably meat, is not ruled out as meat by the Church, so I think you're fine with egg.
