Byzantine
So I was looking at this thread (http://www.phatmass....52#entry2391152) and I was thinking: I used to think that the following were HDO's for Byzantine Catholics:

Exaltation of the Holy Cross
St. Nicholas
Immaculate Conception (surprisingly enough, it isn't)
At least one other
Did anyone else ever think something was an HDO when in fact it wasn't? Basilisa Marie
Thanksgiving, here in the US. We'd always go to mass, and everyone would bring a different kind of bread. Father would bless the breads after mass (using a standard food type blessing, not his Eucharist powers!), and then every family would take a different one home, to help us keep in mind that we are all part of one family in Christ, even though we may be eating at different tables. When I was a kid I always thought it was a HDO.

EmilyAnn
I was really confused about the Immaculate Conception, it took me forever to figure out it's not a Holy Day of Obligation in the UK. And Easter. Doesn't seem to be a Holy Day of Obligation, which seems crazy. Edited February 24, 2012 by EmilyAnn
Ah that makes sense. I forget that Sundays are counted as Holy Days of Obligation, I usually think of them as the 'extra' ones.

I've read St. Gregory Palamas and he seems to all but say it. But I think it has something to do with the Orthodox understanding of Original Sin or something. My priest explained it to me once but now I can't remember how it worked. And of course I know some of the Theotokia. I had the Dormition one stuck in my head yesterday (although that's by no means a bad thing to have stuck in your mind)!

FutureSister2009
I really thought the Immaculate Conception was. What about Christmas? I've always been confused about whether or not it was

According to Wikipedia at least.
Hubertus
I think it is.. But I'm not sure. It seems like in my diocese everything gets "moved" to the closest Sunday.
