penguin31
The correct answer was "None of the above". At least on camera. According to various reports making the rounds, Santorum *did* receive ashes earlier in the day Edited February 23, 2012 by penguin31
Vincent Vega
You all are cynics!!! If they wear them, I would seriously hope they wouldn't be using ashes as an election ploy.
Oh honey, you need to meet more politicians. penguin31
I wonder how you get that job? I am tottaly down
Like virtually everything else in politics, it's at least partly based on who you know. A couple of my good friends from college had taken up careers in politics, and with nothing else better to do and with their needing someone with my skillset, I talked to them, they talked to their people, and it happened. And it was one of the top five mistakes I've ever made. I wasn't in the game long enough, or high enough on the totem pole, for this to really happen, but the longer you're in it and the higher up you are, the more in changes you. I watched a person I once knew as the type to give you the shirt off his back, or to stop and lend a hand to broken down cars on the side of the road - change to a stressed out person who only viewed those same people as statistics and a cluster of demographics. It can become the kind of job that consumes you quickly and easily if you're not careful. I was on-call to be doing *something* campaign related 24/7. I once had to drive across the state (and Kentucky is a very long state to drive across) at 3 in the morning (for stealth) scouting planned locations for upcoming event. The people who seemed to wind up the most successful in that game tend to be people who *embrace* that consumption of their lives and personality and who make their lives politics. And yes, it's been my experience that this is the case regardless of party. It's perfectly possible to work in politics and to still remain a normal, happy, friendly, well-adjusted person. But it's far less likely than many other realms of employment.
I noticed that too. Anyway, it's possible that the ashes may have been wiped off or covered if make up was applied to the candidates (due to the heat from the lighting).
