I've been trying to do them mid-day so that way I do a mid-day examen but lately things have gotten too hectic and the night before last I didn't get to it until 11:55!!!! but praise God, so far so good. The Holy Spirit has been with me and urging me to keep on :)

I do find it to be a good book. Why is he not considered a saint yet (Thomas Kempis)?
After the 13th century Thomas a Kempis, the reputed author of the great devotional work The Imitation of Christ, was never made a saint because, it was said, when they dug up his boy for the ossuary they found scratch marks on teh lid of his coffin and concluded that he was not reconciled to his fate. Yeah, most of mind end up being after midnight... It's before I go to bed though, so I'm hoping it still counts. :P That said, I haven't missed yet!

i hate to give you false expectations by telling you what you're doing is okay, but you need to do that day's prayers on that day - not into the next day. i mean, it's not like you're sinning or anything :P but you have 24 hours to do it on the right day, why are you waiting until the very last second to do those prayers? note: i'm not trying to be nasty or have an attitude here, i don't know what your life is like and how busy you are. if you find it's hard to remember, do it right away when you get up - or get up 10 minutes earlier. or like lglg is doing, set a phone alarm to remind you and do it right away.

Well the alarm didn't help today, all humanity broke loose in the Parish Offices today, I'm getting to my Magnificat 3 hours late :P, other than today, it's working fine.

Hubertus, just find about 15 minutes that you can take apart from the main bulk of your day. I have a daily schedule that in a dream world I could follow exactly, so in that schedule, I put in time for prayer. I shut my office door, (I'd lock it too if it wasn't broken) and I give that time to God. Maybe you could do it when you are walking somewhere, getting into the car to go somewhere, but make sure it's a consistent amount of time.

God bless-
LGLG

I found a little book called "The Imitation of Mary" at my library. I have been reading bits out of that as well, it has been really good. I also like it because it is small so its not hard to carry with me.

I got that and "Imitation of Christ" from my confirmation sponsor when I was confirmed...and I haven't read either one.

Playing catch-up. I have to admit to sometimes still being a bit weirded out by it all, but rationally I'm razzle dazzle with it, if that makes sense.

I'm a sponsor/Godmother this year in RCIA and it going through the consecration has allowed me to identify with many of the emotions my catechumen (now elect!) is going through (doubt if I am ready, excitement, trusting etc).
The timing has been funny too. Today we had the Rite of Sending and Election which is the "official start" to the last part of their preparation and tomorrow we start Part II of the consecration.
