Lil Red
saw this at [url="http://newtheologicalmovement.blogspot.com/2012/02/consecrate-this-lent-to-jesus-through.html"]New Theological Movement[/url]: This Lent provides us with a most rare opportunity to consecrate ourselves to Mary according to de Montfort’s method. Due to highly exceptional circumstances, one could begin the preparation this year on Ash Wednesday (February 22) and complete the consecration on the feast of the Annunciation (this year, March 26). What a wonderful way to make this our best Lent ever! .. [b]Why this Lent is special[/b] Three circumstances have come together this year to provide the opportunity to begin the preparation for the total consecration on February 22[sup]nd[/sup] (Ash Wednesday) and conclude on March 26[sup]th[/sup] (Feast of the Annunciation). This is highly unusual. 1) Ordinarily, the Annunciation is celebrated on March 25[sup]th[/sup]. However, on account of the Fifth Sunday of Lent (March 25[sup]th[/sup], 2012), the feast has been moved this year to March 26[sup]th[/sup]. 2) Generally, in order to complete the thirty-three day preparation for the feast of the Annunciation, one would begin on February 20[sup]th[/sup]. However, because this year is a leap year, we gain an extra day of preparation and can start later than usual. 3) This year, Easter falls on April 8[sup]th[/sup], which would usually make Ash Wednesday fall on February 21[sup]st[/sup]. However, because this is a leap year, Ash Wednesday is February 22[sup]nd[/sup]. All three of these factors combine to allow the thirty-three day preparation to begin on February 22[sup]nd[/sup] which is also Ash Wednesday, and to conclude on March 25[sup]th[/sup] which is the Fifth Sunday of Lent. Then, as de Montfort asks, the consecration is made on the following day, March 26[sup]th[/sup] which, this year, is the feast of the Annunciation. ========== I think this would be great if we could do this together as a phamily this Lent. [/quote] That would be lovely! Count me in. Question/request; would you mind pinning and locking this thread as you post the formulas for each day? That way the thread doesn't get lost and the formulas don't get lost in replies.

I spent some time reading about it yesterday here http://fisheaters.com/totalconsecrationmontfort.html At first I wondered if the committment would be too much for me to take on. But if we do it as a Pham and support each other then I feel more confident. Thanks Lil Red for the encouragement. I needed it. Now I gotta think about where we can get little chains

MIKolbe
As one who embraced the Kolbean model, it says this from the MI (Militia Immaculata) [quote] Consecration means setting yourself aside for service to God. The Church has always advocated consecrating yourself to Jesus Christ through the Blessed Virgin, the perfect model of discipleship. Perhaps the best known advocate of Marian consecration is St. Louis de Montfort (d. 1716). Modern day promoters include Pope John Paul II, who recommends an "act of entrustment" to Mary (the Holy Father's papal motto is an enthusiastic Totus Tuus, "Totally Yours.") All methods are equally worthy; Kolbean consecration adds a clear apostolic dimension. You become a member of an international movement dedicated to the conversion and sanctification of the world and share in the maternal mission of Mary. The MI is one of the few canonically approved public associations whose mission, like that of the Catholic Church, is universal. Am I Ready to Consecrate Myself Totally to Mary and Join the MI? The spirit of the MI is the spirit of continual conversion. Not everyone who enrolls as a member understands perfectly in the beginning the power of this consecration. But when lived in the spirit of willingness and humility, the Immaculata will elevate our natural gifts and inspire us to holiness and fruitful service within the Church. As Jesus said to those who would stand up and follow him: "Even greater things than these will you do." "Maximilian Kolbe is a prophet and a sign of the new era, the civilization of love." Pope John Paul II[/quote] As I read that this struck me, [b][i]The spirit of the MI is the spirit of continual conversion.[/i][/b] Perhaps I, too, shall redouble my efforts. Lil Red
[url="http://totalconsecration.ageofmary.com/"]i found this[/url] and thought it might help others [quote]By making this consecration to Mary, you are placing yourself completely and totally in her hands. You are giving her permission to form you, discipline you, and mold you into a true follower of Christ. Do not be afraid, though, because she loves you. She will always take care of you, and knows better than anybody how to do so. It is always good to remember her words to St. Juan Diego in Mexico, [i]"Hear and let it penetrate into your heart, my dear little son: let nothing discourage you, nothing depress you: let nothing alter your heart or your countenance. Also do not fear any illness or vexation, anxiety or pain. Am I not here who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not your fountain of life? Are you not in the folds of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Is there anything else that you need?"[/i][/quote]
