Grocery Stores Need To Be Forced To Give Free Food!

Seems to me that there is a perfectly good way to keep from getting pg without providing contraceptives. It's medically proven, 100% effective, no dangerous chemicals, and we are practicing it right now as Christopher West has pointed out.

Now if this is true, and it is, the reality of this contraceptive mandate is what we are really paying for is for people to have sex.

I'm not at all trying to push my views on sex. Perhaps you've missed the million times I've suggested a cheap alternative: CONDOMS.

And I don't think the majority of America agrees that birth control is medically necessary. I think there are plenty of people on birth control who would recognize that it's a product they buy so that they can live the lifestyle they choose to live.

Has anyone considered that the contraceptive mandate might increase STD's? Seems to me it would for sure. I thought this was all about women's health. STD's aren't healthy.

oh and sorry to hear you were suspended, I didn't know, I don't remember where the thread was but I believe I've re-made my points mostly here so we might as well have it out here haha :smokey:

In terms of fighting poverty, well, when we're talking about doctors and nurses in Catholic hospitas, we're not at all talking about folks who are so impoverished that they couldn't afford the $30/month... like I said in another thread, it may come down to choosing between cable service or birth control, those are both lifestyle choices and you have to prioritize.

I think condoms are about as good at "fighting poverty" as you call it, as birth control pills would be. your point is that not having kids helps to fight poverty; if you don't like how it feels with a condom, pony up the $30/month for birth control pills.

Are you implying that you don't think the government should force cable companies to provide everyone with free cable service?

You're a right-wing fascist pig who hates poor people!

Birth Control is a really important medical product for most Americans who don't have the same sexual ethics as the Pope. You all can preach that a sex life really isn't that important and if you must then there's always the rhythm method but most people don't buy that. [/quote]

To have sex without getting pregnant is a medical necessity? I don't see anyone preaching sex is not important. It is the opposite, that sex is very much important. You don't really know much of the Church's teaching on sex do you. I suggest you look into it. It is beautiful.

Birth Control is very good for fighting poverty.

How's that?

"Birth Control is very good for fighting poverty."

Wrong. Birth Control has played a large part in separating sex from marriage. Thus because of birth control promiscuity has increased and so has out of wedlock births. Single Parent homes have also drastically increased. Most of these homes are led by women and are a major cause of poverty. These are the facts.

Let's socialize all grocery stores. Everyone will be entitled to a certain amount of groceries (in dollars) per month and if you want to go beyond that you'll have to pay. The entitlement will be such that everyone will at least get enough to eat without having to worry about it. We could look at countries like Cuba for ideas. Oh, home delivery would be nice too and could be optimized to radically cut down carbon emissions compared to everyone having to make regular trips to the store. Maybe basic diets could be mandated too so that people will be healthier and less of a load for the socialized health care.

Socialize everything!!!

There is certainly more of a "right" to free food than a "right" to free artificial contraception.
