LinaSt.Cecilia2772
So I just found this, and thought y'all would like it. =) http://lifeteen.com/weird-lent-ideas-that-will-make-you-holier/
IcePrincessKRS
Another one: I think I'm going to cut back on criticism. I have a tendency to say things like, "That's great, but I don't agree with this part." Instead, I'll just say, "That's great," and leave it at that.
I need to work on that, too. It's a hard one.
Strictlyinkblot
I'm planning on giving up chocolate and sweets. Might not sound like a big sacrifice but I've a very big sweet tooth. Also, I'm going to try to fast once a week on Fridays, just bread, water, a little fruit and soup (if I stick to just bread and water I can't function and get migraines). I'm also going to try to have spiritual reading time every day. Lastly, go to confession at least twice. Don't laugh but its something I find very difficult. I don't know why, I never had a bad experience. On my last retreat the sisters almost frogmarched me down to the confessional.
Adrestia
I gave up alcohol for Lent several years ago, I donated the money I would have spent on booze. Every year I give up sugar in my coffee. This year I'm adding a special prayer intention for each of the 40 days. I think focusing more on the needs of others will help me get over myself, at least I hope it will.

FutureCarmeliteClaire
I am giving up sweets, snacking, and seconds. Also, I am going to try to make more time for prayer, which would mean cutting back on my computer usage...

PhuturePriest
Cold showers remind me of on retreat in Queens. The water wasn't cold, it was ice cold. OHMIGOSH I almost screamed when the water hit me.
Not to hijack the thread, but how do you go on all these retreats when you're so young? I'm fifteen and I've never even had the opportunity. I'm starting to think there's no such thing as a male retreat for discerning the Religious life! OnlySunshine
I'm binging tomorrow on fast food
I'm doing the same thing. I did not eat healthy today. I decided to have McD's for lunch and some sweets. Tomorrow is "Fat Tuesday" so I'm celebrating! At least, that's my excuse. I just went out to the store today to buy a few things for Wednesday. I got some yogurt, tuna, a nectarine, and an Odwalla Banana Nut bar. I had a lot of difficult last year with the meat fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday so I'm planning to eat a lot of protein tomorrow so I don't crave it on Wednesday. MissMaro
I'm going to pray the Liturgy of the Hours for Lent. I'd give something up, but I already can't eat chocolate or ice cream because of dietary issues I have, and so I don't really want to give up anything else...
Um... well the retreat was for girls 16 and up.... but since a few Sisters who used to be at our home were transferred to Queens, we were allowed to volunteer at the nursing home, and were included in parts of the retreat like Adoration and Mass on Sunday. Basically, I'm at our home here a lot, and they are thinking "vocations vocations vocations" so they drag me and "mysisterisalittlesister" along. I love Queens and the home in Denver and our home, when I walk in it feels like I am home to where I belong. Therefore we were really volunteering,we were included in some retreat stuff, and the chapel in the home was a few steps away which is avvesome.
