Iacobus
Curse of the billy goat From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. As the story goes, William "Billy Goat" Sianis, a Greek immigrant who owned a nearby tavern, had 2 $7.20 box seat tickets to Game 4 of the 1945 World Series between the Chicago Cubs and the Detroit Tigers. Sianis and the goat were allowed into Wrigley Field and even paraded about on the playing field before the game before ushers intervened. They were led off the field. After a heated argument, both Sianis and the goat were permitted to stay in the stadium occupying the box seat for which he had tickets. However, before the game was over, Sianis and the goat were ejected from the stadium at the command of Cubs' owner Philip Knight Wrigley due to the animal's objectionable odor. Sianis was outraged at the ejection and placed a curse upon the Cubs that they would never win another pennant or play in a World Series at Wrigley Field again. The Cubs lost game four and eventually the 1945 World Series. Since that time, the cursed Cubs have not won a National League pennant or played in a World Series at Wrigley Field &ndash the longest league championship drought of in Major League Baseball history. Colleen
No, it's just an excuse for not winning.
Now the Yankees, they're a team to cheer for!
No. But the Brewers, they're always the underdogs. They should be cheered for. They beat the Cubs regularly.

Sojourner
Technically I suppose I believe in the curse of the billy goat rather than the cruse ... But yes, I believe it. I'm not from Chicago or Boston, but I'm a Red Sox fan and have to commiserate with my fellow losers. Edited May 5, 2004 by Sojourner

thicke
If you want my opinion (probably not, but you're getting it anyway). All those teams from up North are Yankees at heart and they all look alike. Take a look at the Braves and the Marlins......Now, those are teams..... <thicke ducks for cover> Edited May 5, 2004 by thicke
