Wasn't asked...had no money...single-parent raising five children. Had no money for proms or any dances.

:freak: You didn't got to your prom because you were a single mom raising five children??? Wow, the stuff I learn in these late night posts...

LOL!

No...my mom was a single-parent raising five children on one income, with no child support and had just enough money for her and her five children to get by on.

hehe... yeah, I'm sorry... just having fun with you... my mom was a single mom, too... but by the time I went to prom, there was just me (and my dad was very good about paying child support)... plus I had a job.

My junior year, I went to the prom with a guy who had a cool car... :P
My senior year, I went with the guy I was dating at Christmas... he asked me then (at Christmas)... by spring we didn't like each other all that much, but we could stand to be in the same room together... we went to different schools, so we went to both proms...

But the best event was in college. Our college has a huge event called the Viennese Ball... mwah! Lots of fun... HS_Dad and I went to that... it was a blast...

I just wish I could've gone to at least one prom...

It's kinda left an empty spot in my life because I wasn't able to go.

Yeah, maybe because you are still pretty young... five years from now you probably won't care...

Which, for some odd reason reminds me of the commencement speech at my college graduation... The guy was talking about the major formal events in a person's life... he mentioned three... graduating college, getting married and having your funeral. Well, I was already married at the time, so I'm sitting there thinking, "wow... all I have left to look forward to is my own funeral... whoopee..." It was kind of depressing... but memerable... That was over 12 years ago and I still remember it.

I don't know...I suppose I just missed out on a lot of things throughout school. Most trips, cause I couldn't pay for it. I know poeple say that I didn't really miss much, but it's the opportunitiy that I missed out on.

I suppose it's not a big deal to those who have gone, because they were able to go. But what about those who never really had that opportunity to go? Didn't have the opportunity to participate?
