BeenaBobba
Almost all of them were catholic. Very few bishoprics were made after the Reformation.
So, technically, they are Catholic churches that were hijacked by Anglicans. Archbishop 10-K
As it's the Archbishop of Canturbury who currently crowns the Monarch, the Pope could crown the British monarch if it reverted to Catholicism. But would an uncrowned Pope crown a British monarch?
The simple solution is to bring back the papal coronation. Seriously! I think when Pope Paul VI ditched the triple tiara, the Papacy lost a critical bit of awesomeness. I'd love to see the day when a Catholic King of England becomes crowned by the Pope (even better if he hauls himself to Rome to do it, a la Charlemagne) and gives up being Supreme Governor of the Anglican Church. The day that happens is the day I reclaim my Britishness and move to England.
amarkich
While I think the loss of the Papal Coronation is a horrible thing, Paul VI did away with something much more awesome than that!

Aloysius
i bet he means the Tridentine Mass. but Paul VI didn't do away with it, just offered an alternative. While I personally like the Tridentine better, the Novus Ordo when done right is just a valid and holy of a Mass. PAX
yiannii
In Australia we are still under the Brittish Monarchy, meaning Queen Elizabeth II is still our head of state, as she is in Canada. The Queen doesn't have any form of rule in Australia but I like more what the Monarchy represents. For me it represents stable democracy, which is why you have people coming from countries all over the world, trying to come to Australia because of our stable democracy. Another thing, if Australia was under attack the Commonwealth would HAVE to defend us. So many people say we don't need the Commonwealth security because we have the US but they don't actually HAVE to come and help us at any time. P.S. On Monday, in Australia it is the Queen's public birthday which means a public holiday.
Crusader_4
I think actually and i know this sounds jokingly but a British Monarchy could in the relative near future (within 30-200 years) revert back to Catholicsm. Since the lack of unity within the Anglican communion there have apparantly already been some whole anglican diocease that have been considering converting. So its interesting situation, i would definatly not rule it out although i think its a long time happening.
