OnlySunshine
Why does it seem that such talented people are so self destructive? I remember just a few years ago the pictures of her when she was at a bad time in her drug abuse and thought she did not have much time left on this earth, then later I seen pictures of her after her recovery, you could see it had taken a toll on her but she looked healthier. Its a shame she never found whatever it was she needed to face her life without drug use, may God rest her soul and may heaven be her bed. ed
Yes, drugs are truly disastrous to celebrity life and seem to bring the dangerous charm when the stars are at their lowest. We will never know why she began the path to self-destruction, but I just pray that she is resting peacefully in God's arms tonight. We are all weak. Each one of us has a battle to fight at one time or another and this was her war.

At one point in my singing days I had to be so drunk to go on stage that I fell backwards into the orchestra pit. Being the center of attention can be blinding. Luigi
Her mother is gospel singer Cissy Houston. Her aunt is Dionne Warwick. Her godmother is Aretha Franklin. She was raised in show biz. I doubt that attention was the problem.. maybe never being good enough or something, but I doubt that it was stage fright.
Sarah147
Her ex-husband started the drug problems and it was reported that he was abusive physically to her, and being that she was the star and he wasn't, jealousy may have been an issue. Before him, she seemed healthy coming from a being a girl faithful to her church and singing gospel in choir.
MIKolbe
I remember when she was on Silver Spoons. I will miss her most beautiful voice. May she rest in peace.

FutureSister2009
This is a really fun, catchy song: I was never a huge fan of Whitney's, but she really had a beautiful voice.
I have elected this song as my official Valentine's Day theme song this year. Not just because of Whitney but because it's just how I feel. Cyprian
I just read that her very last performance, the day prior to her death, was the song "Yes, Jesus Loves Me". Amazing.
