Sojourner
Homeschoolmom started a thread on this in Open Mic which is a perfect fit for this forum. I know for myself, I actually argued with a friend against the Mass, told him that we are "creative beings" and need variety in our worship of God, so how could the Mass or anything like it ever be enjoyable? So, so wrong. Now, I LOVE the Mass and can't imagine going without it. I can't believe I ever thought it would be boring! What a fool I was ... "I once was blind, but now I see." Guest astralis
The Cult of Mary. Before I converted I was really indifferent to Mary and never really though I would be interested in venerating her like the Pope does or other 'hardcore' Catholics. That all changed as I matured in the faith. Mary, indeed, points us to Christ more than anything. It's very powerful and because it's not understood by Protestants, they can easily dismiss it. theculturewarrior
The Rosary. The liturgy of the hours. Faithful priests. I never expected how big a part each of these would be in my life.

Ellenita
Chatting with the Saints! I never thought I would get used to the idea that we could ask a Saint to pray for us but now some of them feel like close friends and I've been most grateful for their intercession! I always smile when we get to that part in the creed....I believe 'in the communion of Saints'....
homeschoolmom
One of the attitudes that I used to think was pretty dopey was about going to mass at whatever parish was most convenient. Like just sleeping in and going to a different parish later in the morning... or going to confession at a different parish because they have a different schedule. (ie using the flexiblity to your own advantage)... I used to joke that it's like going to a different city and going to McDonald's because it's always the same... You pretty much know what you're getting there and you go there when it's convenient... (my thoughts were that you should stay at the same parish where your friends are... after all, how can you wacky Catholics have any fellowship if you are going all over the place?) But now I see that it's a pretty cool thing to be able to walk into any parish in the world and they are doing pretty much the same thing. When we were out of town a few weeks ago, we went to confession at the cathedral and later, on our way home, went to mass. We'd never set foot in those places before, but we knew pretty much what to expect. It was very nice.
