Hey_Pauly
Hey all, I grew up in the church and as an adult I have flirted with it, attending mass for periods of time and then not for periods of time. I'm a pretty liberal guy, I believe that gay marriage is a civil right (I also believe that churches shouldn't be forced to perform same sex ceremonies), I believe in birth control (but not abortion). Also, I didn't get married in the church. I guess what I'm wondering is if there is room in the Catholic Church for a guy like me. While I disagree with the church on some points, I have to admit that there is no other church that feels like home. I want to attend mass but I wonder if I really belong there because of my beliefs and ideas. Thanks in advance for your replies, Paul
Theoketos
I think that some one like you belongs in church for sure. She, that is the Church, is made for us sinners. That being said, holding to some of those beliefs, would prevent you for being able to receive communion under normal circumstances. I think you should look into the reasons behind the Church teachings you disagree with. (Address them one by one in this phorum if desired.) You might find yourself agreeing with the Church reasoning behind the controversy. Finally, the terms Liberal and Conservative do not really work well inside the Church. Lets just be Catholic.
