Letting people know I have had a cute little note from Sr Faith....she is well, enjoyed a six hour Adoration for Corpus Christi, she is due to travel to Glasgow to the Carmel there for some sort of Novices meeting - which she is looking forward to, AND they have a new Postulant entering NH on July 20th. Praise be Jesus Christ!

She says she hopes we are all behaving ourselves and passes on her prayers for the Phamily on VS - she liked the Haribo!

Wow, hasn't someone else entered after Faith? So this would be a third entrant in 2012?

Notting Hill seems to be keeping the numbers of UK religious vocations up, all by itself!

Wow--they have so many vocations (and a really neat website!) Thanks for the link Emily Anne.

Question: why do some of them wear guimps and some don't on the site?

Has anyone seen the Never Lose Hope DVD they have on their website?

Totally Franciscan

Yes, I had purchased the DVD Never Lose Hope; it is wonderful. I cried through much of it, as it was so very beautiful. The sale of the DVD goes to pancreatic cancer research, so you just can't lose!

TF: Is the DVD about Carmelite life in that convent, or just that particular nun? I will definitely need to see this!

Edit: How do I get the dvd?? When I 'donate' do they send it to my paypal address?

Hi, Emma,

I think they have a 'shop' ontheir website, but that they are donating all the proceeds of that video..... I think to a charity that was close to the deceased sister's heart.

You (and anyone else who wasn't yet on Phatmass when Sr. Faith Cecilia was with us on PhatMass) might want to use the search feature to find the old thread she always used as she was discerning with us. She had a long struggle to find the right 'home' -- and it is part of the reason why we are all so rejoicing for her that she seems to be doing well at Notting Hill. She is quite a woman, and i think she will make a wonderful Carmelite. She is praying for us... and I know she values our prayers a well as the Haribo gummies!

Some of the sisters still wear guimpes because that's what they were used to. The sister making profession came from another community and was used to wearing it there so was permitted to continue in NH.

Emily, I believe her postulancy is for one year. She won't be clothed until that ends.

Thanks. The website for NH said the postulancy can be from 6-18months so I was curious if her previous experience in religious life might make her postulancy towards the shorter end of that.

When she entered she was expecting a full year's postulancy. I expect that when she is clothed it will be on the Notting Hill website and there will be much rejoicing on Phatmass. :)

Another former Phatmasser entered a very very strict, traditional Carmel that does not publicize such things. The nuns don't run a website themselves, but some friends of the community do on their behalf (presumably with consultation as to what should be shared). Anyway, when she received the habit there was a notice on the website that one of the postulants had received the habit and become a novice. No name, no other details. (It may have included the date, I'm not sure.)

And don't even THINK about hoping for any photos, they do not do that. But because we live in a visual age and like the pretty pictures, the webmaster friends were obliging enough to post a picture of St. Therese as a novice!

Different communities have different customs and they can do what they like without permission from me, but I have to say that cracked me up!!!
