theculturewarrior
I had a difficult time in school too, Soj... It's a good thing God calls us to forgive. I'd still be hating. Maybe Columbines happen because of the sheer hierarchical nature of the public school system. I think sexual promiscuity, or maybe just the hormones teenagers have surging through them, adds an element of animal hierarchy to the experience. No, I'm not a darwinist. I know we were created by God in his image to be stewards of his creation...but I remember high school and I know we are capable of base animal behavior. At my school they were practically pulling the lice out of one another's hair. BUT NOW I'M DISCRIMINATING!

theculturewarrior
I'm a little uncomfortable with information like that being shared publicly. I know you weren't asking me, Curtins, but keep in mind...this is a public forum, and there are eyes everywhere.
MrsFrozen
I choose to not say the pledge anymore. If I pledge my complete loyalty and support to a country who accepts abortion, then I am not Catholic, but indeed a walking oxymoron. It helps having a dad in the army though. However, he has gotten robbed by some people there, he's been told to go home, and obviously other stuff. He's one of the US's best translators in Iraq. I don't get it God bless, Mikey
Hi, Michael. I'm sorry you have been discriminated against by some ignorant people in this country. Some people can't see past the tips of their noses, but you're not denouncing your faith by saying the Pledge. There are a lot of things that shouldn't be legal but are. You know you don't support these things, and you're not accepting these things by supporting your country. By washing your hands of the USA, you're showing that you don't really care what the laws are. Why not take the attitude of, "I love this country, and I'm not going to stand by while people change what it stands for?"
musturde
The only descrimination I had from being Lebanese was being blamed for 9/11 (and that was like 1 or 2 years ago). Oh, well there's the airport, I travel yearly so I do feel like I'm treated "differently" than others at times but I know it's their job. On my way back from Lebanon, in Chicago, we had to go through some dude who checks passports. The dude started questioning me, "So, what were you doing in Lebanon?" "I was visiting Lebanon" "Yes, but what were you doing there" "Visiting Friends and family." "What are you doing in America" "Umm... I live in America" "I know, but what are you doing here." "... Oh, I'm only 15" "Your 15?" Yeah, I don't exactly look my age which kinda adds to it. All in all, it's not bad, though.

Oh there's also the airport... It's not too bad, I like to overexaggerate it a little. It's fun to be descriminated against in the airport. If they do it enough, you ride first class :-D. Sojourner
I had a difficult time in school too, Soj...
Yeah, the whole concept of forgiveness is one I've been learning (and learning, and learning, and learning ... I'm a little thick-headed at times). If you don't forgive, you can never be free of the bitterness and anger. When I started to realize that I had issues with forgiveness, I decided to do something about it. When it comes to my attention that I'm harboring anger, or not forgiving, I start out by writing down what I'm angry about, and then I pray about it and ask God to help me forgive. There are some things that have been on the list for a long time, other things that have popped off and come back on, and other things that I've been able to let go of. But just the act of asking God's help with forgiveness is really freeing, and helps me be better able to love the people who have hurt me.
