Okay, serious face:
Why ought death be so serious? Is it not an inevitable part of life, like birth or losing one's teeth or cutting one's nails? Why must it be untouchable? Certainly, for a Christian, death might even be considered the best part of life, for it signals the end to the strife and tribulation of this life and the entering into the far superior Hereafter.

For Catholics, death is so serious in part because the Church places such a high emphasis on life.
