Byzantine
Like, supposing none of the interpretations contradicts the Faith and the other valid interpretations aren't ruled out. For example, Rev 22:7: "The Spirit and the Bride say 'Come.'" Ignatius Study Bible takes the Bride to be the Church. Could it also apply to the Theotokos, who is at times addressed as "Bride of the Most High?" There are other passages I feel could be interpreted in multiple ways, none (that I'm aware of) contradicting the Faith or ruling out other interpretations. Just wondering. BarbTherese
The Church interprets Scripture for the Universal Church and then there may be what The Holy Spirit is saying to an individual - providing of course there is no contradiction to Faith or Morals for The Holy Spirit does not contradict Himself. Sometimes the individual understanding is quite personal, sometimes it is shared with others. We often see this individual understanding shared by our saints in their writings.
