I had to reread this like 5 times before I understood what you meant. I thought you were saying that your husband was cheating on you and that you're going to jail for killing the other woman...

I'm glad that's not what you meant!! :)

She has done this to us before you know. Misleading the innocent with her sentence structure. Lol.

But only if men are monogamous.

"It is simply that there is nothing about sex that morally distinguishes it from other activities that are performed by two (or more) people collectively."

I facepalmed multiple times. I'm almost tempted to say to these folks, "fine have it your way and we'll see whether or not we end up with a utopia or a society in the [mod]bad word[/mod]."

That's not a very good attitude maybe but I'm at the point where I think it's going to have to get worse before things get better.

Haha. I feel that way sometimes too. lol. Props.

Monagamy is one of my favorite woods
I guess this wood is out of the question for the 6th(5th for you trads) wedding anniversary.

For whatever it's worth, I didn't see anything particularly tricky about it. If you had High School English then there should be no trouble in understanding your posts.

Honestly, I regularly need to reread a lot of PMers posts - CatherineM usually isn't one of them. MS, you're pretty easy to read, too.

Hasan, on the other hand, is another story... ;)

Just what every woman is thinking when they're standing at the altar in their wedding dress.

"Monogamy? nah. I hope he cheats on me."

Random but related thought: we call it cheating. This is the philosophical part of my brain here not the complaining part. Why isn't there something else to call it that isn't demeaning? no one, no woman wants to be cheated on, we need our men to be faithful. monogamy is what we want and need...so how can it kill marriage?

Stuff like this depresses me. The world needs men that are really, truly men.
Just as badly, the world needs true women who know their own value and demand that they be respected. Without true women, this world will not recover either. Both are needed because holy families are needed. Could Joseph have been as great as he was and the model of masculinity for Christ without the help of Mary? Was it important to Christ's human formation and learning to have a holy family? The world needs terribly holy men AND holy women. We will never have one without the other.

fair enough, but men are generally held to a lower standard. That's where I think his_remnant was coming from.

It's razzle dazzle, even laudable, if a guy has a plethora of sexual partners, but if a woman does she's worthy of contempt and degradation. The standards for both sexes need to be raised but the standards for men have a farther route to the top.

Note: I'm not saying women or men are better, or that one is more important than the other, just rambling on way more than I should :)

Definitely hear this a lot as proof of sexism in society. People don't realize or ignore that its a product of evolution, not some patriarchal, systematic demeaning of women.

And I hear that as an excuse for men to be promiscuous "I can't help it . . . I'm a man!" Fortunately we are not sub-rational creatures left at the mercy of our evolutionary mechanisms. Evolutionary psychology is also used to explain the "gold-digger" phenomenon. Women sleep with/marry rich men regardless of their other negative qualities because they have more resources to take care of any offspring. I don't see people running to the defense of these women, as often, shouting about evolution..

But I was not talking about sexism anyway so
