IcePrincessKRS
The benefit of American chocolate is that it doesn't have other stuff in it, like the stuff my grandparents brought back from Europe has hazelnut creme or something like that in it, which means half my family can't have it, because of nut allergies. They're okay with stuff that's been processed in places with nuts, just not if there is actual nut product IN it.
Yeah, that's not as fun to deal with. I'd take American chocolate over an allergy any day.

I haven't made it yet, but it looks amazing. MissScripture
For our wedding, our colors were green and silver, so we had green and silver wrapped chocolate kisses on the tables. After Christmas, we went out to the day after sales and bought a ton of bags of chocolate kisses and sorted out the green and silver ones. There were a TON of red and purple ones left, so we gave them to the Poor Clares that live near my parents. They were very appreciative.
cmaD2006
Hershey's is poo. Scharffen-Berger is where it's at.
Desperate times calls for desperate measures. That means, if Hershey's is all that is available, then Hershey's it is!!!! So ... is anyone shipping me a box of chocolates for my bday? It's in april. Thanks.

OnlySunshine
I got a 1 lb box of chocolates from See's Candies that I was able to custom mix so it has all the pieces that I wanted to try or that I already like. I ordered mostly Milk Chocolates and they include Milk Butterchew, Coconut, Cherry Truffle, P'Nut Crunch, California Chew, Apple Pie Truffle, Lemon Truffle, etc. I tried the Lemon Truffle last night and it tasted like Lemon Chiffon -- so good! I love the Milk Butterchew since it is butterscotch and I love butterscotch anything. I cannot wait to try the Apple Pie Truffle. It sounded so interesting on the description. See's is where it's at if you want great American chocolate. I even think they are better than another of my favorites -- Whitman's. I like my chocolate chilled, too. I don't like it unless it's been in the fridge for a while. Edited January 19, 2012 by MaterMisericordiae

Lil Red
That's entirely different. It has added goodness.
yes, precisely. just a plain Hershey's bar (by itself, not with anything) is a poor substitute for needing a chocolate fix.
Yup. Which was exactly why I said "plain ol' chocolate in bar form." Clarity!
