Byzantine
I was reading Canterbury Tales and it was talking about unbaptized infants. So, is there an official Church position on what happens to them? Thanks!
Jaime
Well the hope is that as they grow up, they will eventually be baptized sometime. Perhaps in their adulthood (which is a pretty razzle dazzle ceremony to watch btw) Oh you probably mean if they die before they have been baptized. Sorry there is no official Church teaching on the subject. But a group of theologians got together and discussed the subject in 2006 and came to the conclusion that since we believe in an all loving God, the chances of unbaptized babies getting into heaven were good! There was an idea posed that these children were in kept in limbo. But since all of them could get under the stick pretty easily, that theory was soon disregarded. That being said, Baptism is and always will be critical to salvation.
