OnlySunshine Posted January 12, 2012 Share Posted January 12, 2012 I'd like to make a continuing question regarding the feeding tube discussion: Do you know what is permissible in the case of someone who cannot request their own medical care because they are in a persistent vegetative state? I had a patient in the nursing home I used to work in as a CNA who could not communicate and had been that way for at least 5 years. Theoketos Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Yes, it would seem that, in most of those cases, it would be consider ordinary care. Thus denying some one food would be gravely wrong. Recall Terri Schiavo, and the Church's reaction to her murder. Even President Obama (at the time he was a senator) thought denying her nutrition was too much.
