bernadette d
What would you do if you knew non-alcoholic wine was being used (or mixed with certified Altar wine) A friend from another parish has just experienced this.
faithcecelia
The wine used for Communion should be 'natural, made of fruit of the vine and not corrupt' (Code of Canon Law (1983) Canon 924. There are exceptional circumstances, such as where the priest is an alcoholic, where 'mustum' which is an only slightly fermented wine, may be used. However this would not be 'added' to the wine as suggested in your question. Is your priest aware of the situation? If not I would mention it to him. If not I would talk to him also, being prepared to remind him that it is not acceptable to add non alcoholic wine to the chosen alter wine.
