Peter_Jeremiah
What is the church's official attitude toward independent Catholic churches? I define an independent Catholic church as one who's liturgy is exactly the same as the Roman or Greek Orthodox church, and whose priests, bishops, and other hierarchy have valid apostolic succession, and who also venerate the pope as the Holy See of the Church, but are autonomous. CatherineM
My first thought is that you cannot venerate the Pope at the same time that you do not vow obedience to him. As to your question, it depends on the group. Some I am sure are being talked to about coming back into communion as we do with the Orthodox churches, but for many, they are looked on and dealt with as with any other Protestant denomination.
