Byzantine
I was reading about the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kiev Patriarchate and, I was wondering: From what I remember, several Churches that broke off from Moscow(?) actually combined to form the UOC-KP. It was very confusing. But anyway, somewhere along the way, someone didn't actually have a bishop because no bishops would participate, so they decided to consecrate the archpriest in charge of the meeting (synod? Can you have a synod without bishops?) by laying on the hands of priests and laity. What is the Catholic position on the validity of this "consecration," if it be a consecration? Thanks! Theoketos
Not valid from the Western perspective and I suspect not from Moscow either.
