Marc Rubio, co-sponsor of PIPA, says he's withdrawing his support http://hotair.com/archives/2012/01/18/rubio-on-second-thought-sopapipas-a-bad-idea/

My email to my senator was not nearly as nice:

Mr. Al Franken,

If you continue to support PIPA I will be royally ticked off. I will send you more nasty letters. I will tell all my friends, co-workers, and even total strangers what a skunk you are. I will tell people not to vote for you. I will not vote for you. And you know what? With millions of actual Americans voicing their hatred for PIPA today you had better pay attention, or you may never hold public office again. Of course, on the flip side, you may have already sunk your own boat by supporting PIPA at all in the first place, but we the people may be willing to forgive you if you withdraw your support immediately. We'd be even more forgiving if you chose to publicly criticise the bill, say on TV or the radio, instead of hiding in your office.

Sincerely,
Tony

SOPA and PIPA are scary things. I like the way Wiki has worded it. I understand the core. Don't pirate. Don't steal. We shouldn't be doing that... but this goes so far beyond that. It's scary!

buzz feed has a great article as well:
BuzzFeed isn't in the advocacy business. Don't expect us to weigh in on political or policy issues again any time soon. But like most news organizations, we have core values, which we think are obvious, and this seems as good a time as any to state them: We're in favor of free people and free information, against private or state-sponsored discrimination or censorship. Our reporting staff will cover people who agree and who disagree with us with respect and clarity. But BuzzFeed's opposition to SOPA and PIPA isn't about us expressing our opinion; it's a simpler matter of stating our identity. We hope you'll join us in trying to keep the Internet free.

i'm totally stealing USAirways letter. :|

You might correct some of the errors first. Writing a letter after 17 hours worth of day tends to impede one's grammatical mastery.

I'm blacking out my blog and my website tomorrow. I will also be calling Al Franken again. To threaten him with the arse kicking of a lifetime if he votes for PIPA.

The school unfortunately is. IT has admin restricted controls on adding things, so I can't use Chrome or Firefox.

Great posts by everyone today! :)

Also XKCD's strip of the day:

Clare~Therese

We were discussing this in English class today. I thought of the posts on Phatmass and wrote that I think PIPA and so on should be opposed.
