The only hatred I see here is yours - for this phorum. I don't really understand where all this anger of yours is coming from, but if you need a break for awhile, take one. There is no deleting or deactivating of accounts here. Just stop posting and reading. Then if you ever feel better, come back. Differing opinions are healthy, and we all disagree from time to time. I have felt the need for a break, and then come back again. Maybe you need this too??
Papist
Maybe the liberal historians[yes, that is redundant] are not only trying to rewrite US History.
Cherie
That idea is awfully strange. Why do we need a presidential-themed Bible, or any kind of "themed" Bible? We don't! Just a way to profit off people's sensibilities, I suppose. Sad to do with something holy like that, though.
MithLuin
Personally, I like to keep Bibles and Biblical commentary separate, published in two different books, so there is no confusion as to which one you are reading. That being said...biblical commentary is an ancient tradition, and it should not be surprising that publishers of the Bible sometimes feel it is beneficial to include short essays in the sidebars to make the text relevant to the reader, to make connections between various passages of scripture, and yes....to bring in current events in their myriad forms. I'm not saying I would choose to read a 'teen Bible' or 'patriot Bible' or whatever...I wouldn't...but I can see why it would be marketed. Calvin Coolidge is less shocking, because he is dead. Seeing the current president of the US in the Bible is disconcerting specifically because he is the current president. I realize that political threads on phatmass tend to demonize him, but even if he were beloved by members of this phorum, it would still be...surprising. Eustace, you will find that Jesus came for those who were sick and in need of his help. So, not surprisingly, the people in the Church exhibit many of the same unsavory characteristics of those outside, and often, they are the ones who were sick enough to realize they needed a physician. You are of course welcome to leave phatmass for greener pastures, but keep this in mind, lest the Church everywhere disappoint you.

Socrates
Right. Because he supports abortion rights. Something explicitly condemned in the Bible. Unlike feeding and caring for the poor, something that Obama has fought for but is conspicuously absent in the Scriptures.
If Saint Barrack was so concerned about living out Jesus' message of charitable giving, maybe he should have foregone some of his own lavish expenditure on personal vacations and such (which far exceeds that of Bush, btw), and given all his possessions to feed the poor. I obviously missed that part of the Gospel where Christ demands higher taxes and and spending of other people's money. Nothing prevents people from charitable giving to the poor and hungry. For liberals, "charity" always seems to mean giving of someone else's money or possessions. Christ called for personal self-giving, not socialism. And it should go without saying that purported desires to feed the poor (heck, who doesn't want the poor to be fed?) do not excuse supporting the murder of millions of innocent children. Maybe the billions going to fund abortion should instead be going to food for the hungry, if this is indeed such a priority of Dear Leader. Socrates
I seriously want to smack Dr. Richard G. Lee for being the editor of something trying to cash in on both patriotism and the Bible like that.
God forbid anyone sell anything of a Christian or patriotic nature!
