Luigi
What's wrong with halloween?
There are differences in the theological view and the cultural view of Halloween. Some people say it glorifies ghosts, devils, spirits, witches, etc., of which the Church disapproves. Those folks usually say the emphasis should be shifted to the saints since Halloween is the Eve of All Hallows (all holy souls).
MithLuin
As usual, the problem is with people, not with Halloween. Parents are always advised to use caution, common sense and discernment when choosing which traditions to pass on to their children.

Byzantine
We used to have a Halloween party at my church (discontinued because of organizational/monetary problems, not theological ones). Our priest made a point at the blessing of the food of glorifying God that we can do this in mockery of the demons or something like that. He seemed to view it as an anti-demonic thing. arfink
Whatevs, free candy! But seriously, I don't think Christians should have any problems with participating in various secular holidays, especially if we decide to add our own Christian twist. After all, subverting Roman holidays is how we got Christmas.
