tinytherese
Take that "o" from the "of" off and it would be KFC.
CatherineM
I'm waiting for them to give me an embroidered patch. I find sewing computer images onto fabric difficult.
AnneLine
Fair enough! I thought maybe you had one of those programable monogrammers or something... Hope you get another good night's sleep tonight!
truthfinder
At the parishes around here, we have to body at the Mass, and then cremation happens after, with the internment of ashes then. Therefore, the funeral has everybody there, and the internment is usually just close family. Good thing you make the palls.
CatherineM
I'm so proud of my duckling. We knew he was getting his promotion tonight, but thought it was to lance corporal. Instead he got promoted to full corporal. I practically had to stand on a stool to pin his new epaulets on. I think he is taller in his uniform. I get to sew his stripes on all his other uniforms tomorrow. He was so excited that he called practically every member of his family on the way home in the car. His sister is actually on the way over right now to see him in his uniform. We are supposed to take possession of the condo unit upstairs tomorrow. We'll see. The hermit up there hasn't moved out entirely yet. We've got lots of people coming over on Saturday to help rip up carpeting and clean 20 years of stink out. His mom's prayer group are all coming to help. We've got a retired electrician and plumber from church coming to figure out what needs to be done so that we don't get ripped off when we have repairs done. We've got a friend at the scratch and dent place picking out new appliances for us. It's practically going to be a barn raising.

CatherineM
Thought I'd update. We had to take Zack out of school for now. He was so far behind that he was with kids 3+ years younger than him, and they were out performing him, so it was making him feel so bad about himself that it was counter-productive. He is now in a program that gives him school credit for working a job, and it looks like he is going to work at Home Depot. In a year they are going to try to put him in a trade/apprenticeship program, or at the high school for older kids so he won't feel so out of place. The new girlfriend this week is a red head. She "accidentally" left her cell phone here this afternoon so that her dad would have to drive her over in time to meet Zack on our way in from cadets. Guys in uniform, you know. We are progressing on getting the condo from Hell up to code. I pulled all the old tile in the kitchen off today, and pulled the old, moldy, disintegrated countertop out. Replaced it with concrete board to tile the countertop. While he was at cadets I picked up a box of new electric outlets. 30 year old building, so we are replacing the appliances, faucets, light fixtures, and all the outlets. When I did ours last summer, I found half the outlets had loose wires. I will never understand why electricians use the poke in feature instead of the screw on posts. It's silly. Over time from putting plugs in and out they always work loose. I'm replacing a dozen and a half outlets, and three door knobs, and pulling the rest of the old nasty lino up tomorrow. Sweat equity is a wonderful thing. His oldest brother (27) came over this weekend to meet the lady we rent his current unit from, and when Zack moves into the unit we just bought, his brother is moving into the rental. He's going to do a rent to own with her. It's right across the hall. This brother is a decent one, so it will be good for both of them. It's as if we are having an impact on the whole family. CatherineM
Just thought I'd update on the renovations. The light fixtures went in today and I took him down to pick out appliances. He picked out ones just like mine except black instead of stainless. He doesn't like the fingerprints on stainless. I finished the countertop tiling and start grouting tomorrow. After that I can reinstall the sink and start on the bathroom. Zack has gone to work at Value Village full time for $9/hour. He takes in the donations and sorts stuff in the back. They are very nice about working around his cadet schedule and appointments. He really likes working. It means he won't be around as much to help with the renos but I like doing it myself anyway. CatherineM
You either have to do it yourself or pay someone else to do it for you. I'm a tightwad.
