Vows, Part 3

How much deliberation is necessary for a vow to be fully binding? Is it possible that one could make one based on a lot of emotion and not necessarily fully understand the consequences of that which was vowed, and that this would render the vow not binding? (Assuming that that which is vowed is itself good)

From my understanding of vows, they require rational consent, which includes making the vow freely and knowing exactly what the vows include.
