LilyLou
I always wished I had perfected my crocheting at a younger age. Or quilting. When I grew up and had babies I wanted to make a quilt out of baby blankets and realized that I didn't really know how. Maybe this would be a nice skill to learn for now and later! Quilts make great, personalized gifts or you could donate them to your Church!
i<3LSOP
I would say that as much as you like violin, maybe you can compose some music or try transposing. It keeps your mind quite active. But, for a 12 year old, I would say try a Youth Group, Learn some home-making skills. I certainly wished I had when I was your age and am trying to catch up to that now.Embrordariy or sewing on top of patterns is also a nice skill to have. Learn some cooking and just be yourself
Home making skills are so important. It's actually what a married woman's job should be, making her home pleasant and pretty. Oh and I am so gonna try and compose some music. Edited January 27, 2012 by i<3LSOP

TheresaThoma
Quilting is fun. I kind of taught myself how to make them. If you know how to sew in general then making the jump to quilting isn't that hard. I currently have one sitting in a closet that I need to finish quilting and then bind it off. (I made a simple lap quilt and donated it to the lsp. They love getting stuff like that)

MissMaro
If you're going to try crocheting, I'd recommend making amigurumi. They're fun to do, and they don't use a whole lot of yarn. Crocheting other things, like clothes, is fun, but it uses a lot more yarn than knitting (usually) and so it can be more expensive to make, say, a sweater. I'd also recommend knitting though. It's extremely relaxing, and it's fun to do when you're doing something else like hanging out with friends or watching tv or waiting under any circumstances. But really both of them are a lot of fun. Other hobbywise, I'd recommend, writing, drawing, photography- really anything you most enjoy doing.

arfink
I draw. Sure I have a fancy computer graphics tablet, but nothing could ever replace a simple paper notebook and a nice sharp #2 pencil.
Sarah147
I've experimented with cooking over the years and helped out in Mom's kitchen. I enjoy cooking from time to time and making people happy, especially with cooking eggs lately. I'm enjoying listening to piano Christian hymns (instrumental), relaxing music, ocean waves music, etc.

Sometimes when I see a pretty landscape, flower, or when I sit on the low roof outside of my bedroom window and watch the sunset (I know I shouldn't sit on something where I could fall off and get mildly hurt but that's usually how I get away from it all) I will draw what I see.
